Realized I was doing my resume wrong after a friend in Chicago pointed out one line.
I sent my resume for a project manager job. My friend works there. He said the hiring manager read my 'Managed a team of 5' line and asked 'Managed them to do what?'. I never listed the actual results. I just listed duties. I rewrote it to say 'Managed a team of 5, cutting project delivery time by 15% in Q3'. Got an interview the next week. Do you focus more on duties or results in your resume?

Totally used to just list my tasks like a robot. That "managed them to do what" question is a real wake-up call. Switched to results and it makes such a difference.

Switched my whole resume to results after a similar talk with a recruiter. Used to just say "handled client accounts" but now I write "grew client accounts by 20% over six months". The numbers make people stop and actually read the line. It forces you to think about what you actually did, not just what your job title was. My call back rate went way up after that change.
