Switching to a 4 day workweek actually made me less productive
I know everyone raves about compressed schedules, but after trying it for 6 months at my marketing job in Austin, I felt like I was playing catch-up every Monday. The 10 hour days burned me out by Thursday, and I spent half of Friday recovering. My manager pushed it as a benefit, but I ended up doing more work on weekends just to stay afloat. Has anyone else had the opposite experience?

Understand where you're coming from but I actually had the total opposite experience. Those 10 hour days forced me to cut out all the pointless meetings and slack time, so I was getting just as much done in 4 days as I used to in 5. My weekends stayed free and my burnout actually decreased once I got used to the longer shifts (took about a month though).

Ha, funny you say that @matthew_baker because my buddy tried the same thing at his warehouse job. He said the first two weeks suuuucked but after that he swore by it because he could actually take his kid to soccer practice on Fridays now. Honestly seeing his schedule change made me rethink my whole stance on compressed weeks.
