Vent: My boss said 'just be patient' when I asked about a promotion after 2 years
I was in a one on one last week and finally brought up moving to a senior analyst role. I've been hitting my goals, took on that big Phoenix client project solo, and trained two new hires. His whole answer was basically to wait longer and 'let things happen.' It felt like such a brush off, like my work didn't matter. It made me realize that waiting quietly for a promotion is a bad plan. You have to make your own case with clear proof, not just hope they notice. I'm putting together a formal document now with all my wins from the past year. Has anyone else had to basically force the conversation like this? What did you show them?

Yeah, that formal document is the right move. I had to do the same thing and listed every project where I saved money or time. It forces them to see the actual impact you have. Good luck with it.

My last promotion request basically turned into me showing them a powerpoint like I was selling them a used car.
