Walked into a job interview at a coffee shop in Austin and the barista gave me better career advice than the hiring manager

Spent 20 minutes waiting while the manager took a call, and the barista told me to always ask about company turnover rates during interviews, which got me the real scoop from the manager later.

Man, that barista probably knew more about the company culture than the whole HR team. @robin777's buddy getting intel from a janitor is basically the same energy - the people actually doing the work always have the real dirt. Next time someone asks about my "biggest weakness" in an interview, I'm just gonna ask them how many people quit in the last year instead. Probably get a better answer than whatever canned recruiter script they're reading off.

Heard a buddy got the real dirt on a company from the janitor during an interview.
