Finally bit the bullet on a Festool track saw

Been using a circular saw with a clamped straight edge for years. Kept seeing guys on job sites with track saws and figured it was just hype. Tried a buddy's Festool on a 12 foot piece of maple last month. Dead straight cut on the first pass. Bought one the next week. Anyone else held out on a tool and regretted waiting?

My buddy spent like 6 years using sandpaper by hand before he finally bought a random orbit sander. Now he calls it "the decade of wasted elbow grease." Kinda makes you wonder what other dumb stuff we put up with just because that's how it's always been done.

Your buddy's story hits close to home. I did the same thing with a palm sander for way too long before upgrading to a random orbit. The difference is night and day, it's not even funny. I mean, the random orbit leaves almost no swirl marks and cuts the work time in half. If he hasn't tried those mesh sanding discs yet, tell him to grab some. They don't clog up like regular paper and last way longer.
