From my porch, I see nothing but composite decks these days
In my town, every new deck is made from composite materials. I think wood has a warmth and character that lasts, and it's what I was taught to use. What's your take on this move away from traditional lumber?

Honestly, this deck thing is just one example of a bigger swap to synthetic materials everywhere. You see it with vinyl siding replacing wood, and even fake plants in offices. Maybe it's practical, but it makes the world feel a bit less alive, lol.

That's wild how every new deck is composite now. Wood just feels real, not that plastic feeling under your feet. I'm sticking with timber too, no question.

My cousin in Florida just spent five grand replacing his wood deck after termite damage. Composite might not have that old school charm, but it doesn't rot, splinter, or need yearly staining. That's a huge win for busy people. The color lasts way longer without fading in the sun. Sure, it feels different underfoot, but not having a weekend project every single summer is worth it. The trade-off for less work and more free time is pretty solid.
