Hit 500 bd ft on my SawStop last week and it made me wonder about counting board feet at all
I was tallying up a job for a guy in Tacoma and the number came out to 500 bd ft off my own saw since January, which shocked me because I would have guessed closer to 300. Now I'm stuck between two camps: the old school guys say tracking board feet is pointless busywork, and the newer crew I run with swears it's the only way to price jobs right. I get that every shop is different, but I keep going back and forth on whether the number even matters if the paycheck hits. How do you all figure out what to charge, by the board foot or by the hour?
