My uncle told me to always use a chalk line for long cuts, even on plywood

He said 'eyeballing it will cost you time later' when I was helping him frame a shed in Tacoma last summer. I finally listened on a big deck job last week and it saved me from a huge mistake on the first 12-foot beam. Do you have any old-school tips that actually hold up?

Wait, you still use pencils? I haven't sharpened one since middle school. Everything's just pens or typing now.
