Okay, I'm gonna disagree with the 'always use a speed square for layout' crowd

I was framing a shed roof in my buddy's backyard, and my speed square slipped off the rafter while marking the birdsmouth. I just grabbed a framing square instead, and the cut was way more accurate. Anyone else ditch the speed square for certain cuts?

My buddy's framing square saved his birdsmouth cut too.

So the framing square gave you a more accurate cut? What was it about the SPEED square that made it slip, the angle or the rafter material?
