One bad trim detail from a homeowner changed my whole process
A client in Portland pulled me aside after a baseboard install and pointed out my miters were tight but the profiles didn't line up at the corners. She said 'it looks fine from across the room, but up close it's off.' I spent that night checking every joint and realized the issue was I was cutting with the board face down but not accounting for the angle of my saw blade at 45 degrees. Now I set up my miter saw with a scrap piece of the same profile and test fit before I cut any real stock, and I also check the spring angle on crown for every job. Has anyone else had a customer point out a detail that made you rethink a basic step you thought you had locked down?
