Told my old foreman his coping method was outdated... he was right all along

Been doing crown molding for about 8 years now and always used a power coping tool. Last month my old foreman Bob saw me struggling on a tight inside corner and said just use a coping saw, it's faster. Laughed at him and spent 45 minutes fighting that crown with a jigsaw. Finally grabbed his beat up coping saw and had it perfect in under 10 minutes. Has anyone else found that sometimes the "old way" is actually better once you give it a real shot?

Man I had the exact same thing happen with baseboards. Used a power miter saw for years thinking I was saving time until an old timer showed me how to cope by hand. The thing is those power tools give you a false sense of speed. You end up spending all that time on setup and cleanup and fighting with the tool instead of just doing the cut. Bob was probably laughing inside watching you struggle with that jigsaw. Once you learn the muscle memory with a coping saw it becomes automatic and way more forgiving on those tricky corners.

Honestly @ivan873 nailed it with that muscle memory point - once you get the feel for a coping saw it's way faster than fighting with a miter saw on every corner.
