Warning: I bought a cheap 'contractor pack' of 3-inch screws for a fence project.

The heads stripped out on about half of them, turning a simple job into a huge headache and costing me about $40 in wasted screws and time. I had to go back to the supply house for a better brand. What's your go-to brand for outdoor fasteners that won't let you down?

What kind of screws were they using? I had a bench fall apart on me for the same reason. I switched to coated deck screws for everything outside now. They cost a bit more but they don't rust out and snap. It made a huge difference for my own deck project.

Maybe the real problem's not the screws but using pressure treated wood that warps and cracks them.
