Hot glue gun saved a stretch job on a curved staircase in Fort Worth
Had a narrow curved stair landing where the tackstrip would not hold no matter how many pins I put in. Concrete underneath and the glue strips were useless after the second try. Out of desperation I grabbed the hot glue gun from my truck and ran a bead along the back of the strip, pressed it down, and let it set for 60 seconds. That thing held solid through the whole power stretch. Anyone else ever jury rig a stair landing with non-standard stuff?

Man that is a great save! I had almost the same thing happen on a curved landing in a older home, concrete under the plywood and the tackstrip just would not bite. I tried longer pins, then construction adhesive, but it kept popping loose when I stretched. Ended up grabbing a tube of PL premium and screwed a few short wood blocks into the side of the riser to give the strip something to grab onto. Let it cure overnight and that landing never moved. Sometimes you just gotta use whatever is in the truck and hope it works. Nice thinking with the hot glue too, I would not have guessed that would hold up to a power stretch.
