Hot glue gun saved a stretch job on a curved staircase in Fort Worth

Had a narrow curved stair landing where the tackstrip would not hold no matter how many pins I put in. Concrete underneath and the glue strips were useless after the second try. Out of desperation I grabbed the hot glue gun from my truck and ran a bead along the back of the strip, pressed it down, and let it set for 60 seconds. That thing held solid through the whole power stretch. Anyone else ever jury rig a stair landing with non-standard stuff?
