My boss in Denver swore by using a knee kicker on Berber, said a power stretcher would tear it.

I tried his way on a 400 sq ft job last Thursday and ended up with a visible ripple along the main wall. Switched to the power stretcher with a pad on the next room and it laid down perfect. Anyone else run into this with Berber specifically?

Yeah, I was totally in that same camp for years. My old foreman would have a fit if anyone even looked at a power stretcher near a Berber roll. But then we had this one job, a big living room with a plush Berber, and the knee kicker just would not get it tight to the wall. Left a soft spot you could feel underfoot. Finally tried the power stretcher with a thick pad, just like you said, and it locked it right in. Changed my whole approach.
