Showerthought: I used to think those knee pad inserts were just a gimmick.

Had a big job in a Phoenix condo building last month, 12 units in a row. My old pads were shot so I tried a pair of those gel inserts. My knees didn't ache at all the next day, which never happens. Anyone have a brand they swear by for long stretches on concrete?

You mentioned a big job on concrete floors. Have you ever thought about what's under the concrete? I did a tear-out once and found the subfloor was just a mess of uneven rock. No pad at all. So even with good inserts, your knees are fighting that hard, lumpy surface all day. Maybe the real gimmick is builders using the cheapest slab they can get away with.

Oh man, that reminds me of my uncle's garage floor. They poured it thin over just gravel and it cracked into a crazy spiderweb pattern in like two years. Total shortcut.
