Talked to a builder in Phoenix and now I doubt my seam placement

Last week I was laying plush in a new build and the GC pulled me aside. He said homeowners walk in and look at the floor where the light hits, not where the tape measure says the seam should go. I always center my seams off the room, but he pointed out a window reflection line that made my work obvious. He showed me a spot where he'd had a guy shift the seam 10 inches just to dodge that glare. Now I'm second guessing every layout I've done this year. Has anyone else had a client or contractor call out shadows or light angles that change where you place your seams?
