That annoying hump in the middle of the room finally made sense after a chat with a vet.
He said to check for high spots in the subfloor before anything else.

So the hump was basically a secret pet safety feature this whole time? Derek_johnson might be onto something with animals sensing weak spots before we do. My dog avoids one corner like it's lava, maybe I should check for floor issues instead of just calling her weird. Guess pets are better home inspectors than we give them credit for.

Had a similar issue with our floor. A simple level check showed the subfloor had settled unevenly.
