Why does nobody talk about letting carpet acclimate before stretching?
I used to pull carpet straight off the truck and stretch it right away, figured the room was Climate controlled enough. Then 2 summers back I was doing a 12x15 bedroom in a house near Dallas, and the carpet was sitting in the back of my van all morning in 95 degree heat. By the time I seamed it and stretched it, the thing buckled along the wall within a day and the homeowner called me back. Since then I let every roll sit in the room for at least 24 hours before I touch it, even if it adds a day to the job. Anyone else run into this or am I just being paranoid about temp swings?
