Appreciation post: My home inspection turned into a three hour squirrel chase
We were about to close on a house in Plaza Midwood when the inspector found a family of squirrels had moved into the attic, and getting a wildlife removal company out here took over two weeks because everyone was booked solid. The whole process added almost a month to our closing timeline while we waited for them to be evicted and the entry points sealed up. Has anyone else had a crazy animal delay when buying a place here?

Honestly used to think home inspections were just about the wiring and pipes. A buddy of mine had a raccoon delay in NoDa that went on forever, and now I get why people say to check for animal signs FIRST. That stuff can totally derail everything.

Man, that is brutal. I'm curious though, did the seller end up paying for the whole squirrel eviction and the repair work? Seems like something that should be on them since it was their attic full of freeloading rodents. A month delay is wild, I would have been losing my mind waiting around like that. I guess the real question is whether the sellers were cool about it or if they tried to fight you on covering the costs. Because if they dragged their feet too, that would have made the whole thing even more of a headache.
