Hot take: Carpenter-built cabinets are way overpriced for most homes

I used to think you had to go with a custom carpenter for any kitchen remodel. Spent like $8k on a quote for basic shaker cabinets for my 12x10 kitchen in Ballantyne. Then my neighbor showed me his RTA cabinets he ordered online and installed himself. They look just as good, same plywood boxes, soft-close hinges, cost him $2,800 total. I did the same thing last month and saved over $5 grand. Has anyone else switched from custom to RTA and regretted it or was it fine?

Totally feel you on this lol. I was so nervous about going the RTA route but after doing it, I can't believe I ever considered dropping that much cash on custom.
