Just realized it's been a decade since we had to pick between Plaza Midwood and NoDa.

We went with Plaza for the bigger yard, even though the house needed a new roof. It cost $12,000, but the neighborhood's vibe was worth it. Anyone else make a similar call between two areas back then?

That roof cost is wild. Did you ever do the math on what that extra yard space ended up meaning for you? Like, was it just for looks, or did it actually change how you used the house with kids or pets or just hanging out?

Honestly it ended up being way more useful than I thought it would be. We put in a little fire pit area and some raised beds for veggies, and it's become the hangout spot for everyone during summer. The dogs love having a dedicated patch of grass that isn't just a boring strip of lawn. And I can't lie, having that extra space for the kids to run around while I'm cooking dinner has saved my sanity more than a few times. So yeah, it was expensive, but we use it every single day.

Oh man, that roof was basically a down payment!
