Kept telling my brother to skip the inspection on his Plaza Midwood bungalow, and one crawlspace visit changed my tune
I was at my brother's place on Commonwealth Ave last month, standing in his yard while he went back and forth on whether to pay $450 for a full inspection on a 1948 bungalow he was about to buy. I kept saying the place looked solid and he was burning cash, since I'd bought two older homes around Charlotte and never found anything big. He went ahead anyway, and the inspector came out of the crawlspace holding a chunk of floor joist that was soft as wet cardboard, plus a photo of termite tubes running up the pier. Turned out the seller knocked $9,000 off the price and covered the treatment. Anyone got a go-to inspector in the Plaza Midwood area, since I clearly need a new one to recommend?
