My inspection on a house in NoDa missed a major sewer line issue

I was under contract for a cute bungalow near 36th Street last month, and the general inspection came back clean. But my plumber friend insisted on a separate sewer scope, which showed a completely collapsed clay pipe under the backyard. The repair quote came in at $15,000, and the seller wouldn't budge on price. I had to walk away and lose my due diligence money. Has anyone else been burned by something a standard inspection didn't catch?

Can't believe they missed a collapsed pipe.

What kind of inspection were they doing that they didn't catch something that major? Was it just a visual check or were they supposed to use a camera?
