That realtor friend told me to skip the inspection. Now I'm out $4,000.

Back in March, my buddy Dave who sells houses in South End told me to waive the inspection to look better to sellers. I did it on a cute bungalow off Monroe Road. Turns out there was a hidden pipe leak under the slab that I didn't find until August. Has anyone else had a realtor give you bad advice like that?

@palmer.ryan You really think a typical home inspection would miss a slab leak? Most inspectors I've used catch signs of moisture or foundation movement that point to that stuff. So did your realtor also tell you to skip the inspection, or are you just defending the practice?

Waiving the inspection isn't the worst move if you're not in a hot market where sellers expect it. You just got unlucky with that slab leak, which even a regular inspection might have missed.
