The open house where a raccoon stole the staging fruit
So last Saturday I'm hosting an open house in Plaza Midwood, cute bungalow listed at $425k, and I step out back to take a call. I come back inside and the bowl of lemons on the kitchen counter is gone, and there's a raccoon sauntering down the hallway with one in its mouth. The buyers just stared at it, then one of them goes "does that come with the house?" and honestly I laughed so hard I almost choked. Has anyone else had wildlife crash a showing, or is this just my luck?

Bet that raccoon had a better instinct for the staging than whoever picked those lemons, they probably added way more charm than the fruit ever did. Honestly that story alone might be worth more to the buyers than any upgrade you could've made.

Buddy of mine had a squirrel set up camp in the attic of a listing right before a final walkthrough. It chewed through a wire and the whole AC died mid-tour, and the buyers just stood there sweating while he tried to catch it with a trash can. He sold it anyway, but he still swears that squirrel earned the commission.
