My old stand mixer finally gave out during a big holiday order
Happened last Thursday, right in the middle of a 50-brioche bun order for a local cafe. The motor just started smoking and seized up. That thing was a workhorse for almost 12 years. Had to finish the batch by hand, which added like two hours to my night. Makes you miss gear you can just trust, you know? Anyone got a lead on a good commercial-grade mixer that won't break the bank?

Heard commercial Hobarts last forever, is that true?

Honestly, the old Hobarts are tanks. I bought a used one at a restaurant auction maybe 12 years ago and it's still going strong with zero issues. Ngl, @dakota_burns96 is right that a lot of new stuff is flimsy, but these commercial mixers seem to be built different. Tbh, my repair guy told me most Hobarts die because people don't oil the gearbox regularly, so that's key. Picked up a basic manual online for like $10 and it saved me from a costly fix once. If you find a clean used one, it's worth the hunt for sure.

Feel like everything's built to break these days. That trust in old gear is totally gone now. Sorry about your mixer, that's a brutal time for it to go.
