Tbh, when he just says "it's fine," that might be all the feedback you get. Is it really that serious? Maybe he's busy or thinks your dish is actually okay. If you want more notes, try asking him specific questions next time. Not every boss is gonna give you a detailed review, and that's normal.

My old sous chef used to say "looks good" about everything. One time I took that as a go-ahead to fire 12 risottos for a wedding party. They were all raw in the middle. He meant the garnish looked good, not the dish itself. Had to learn to ask "good to serve, or just good to look at?" the hard way. Sometimes you gotta translate chef-speak yourself.

Totally get the frustration. Used to think I needed detailed notes to improve. But then a mentor said 'fine' is often a green light. Started asking stuff like 'is the salt level right?' or 'should the plating be tighter?' Got way more useful bits that way. Changed how I see feedback now.
