Brushes vs rotary tools for heavy creosote buildup
I had a job last week in an old house near Minneapolis where the flue was packed with so much glaze I couldn't even get my standard wire brush through. Ended up switching to a rotary drill attachment halfway through and it cut the time in half but left more dust everywhere. Anyone else find one method works better for certain types of buildup?

Guess it depends on how much you like breathing in extra dust clouds.

My own lungs probably look like a couple of old shop vac bags by now anyway, so what's a little extra dust between friends? Seriously though, after a long day of working in my garage I usually blow my nose and it looks like I've been mining coal. Might as well lean into it and save on drywall costs, right? Your mileage may vary on that approach though, just speaking from experience.
