Had a bird fly down a flue mid-sweep last Wednesday in Portland
I was working a job on NE 42nd, had the rods going, and a starling came shooting down out of the top. It bounced off my face and landed right in the ash pan, (still alive, just stunned). I had to carefully scoop it out with my gloves and let it go in the backyard. Has anyone else had wild critters interrupt a service call like that?

Buddy of mine had a squirrel come crashing down into his work van during a job in Beaverton. He left the side door open for a minute to grab a brush kit and that little guy just launched himself right in, (probably scared by a dog or something). Spent twenty minutes trying to coax it out from behind the soot vacuum before it finally bolted out the passenger window. He said the homeowner was just standing there watching the whole thing like it was a nature documentary.

My buddy had almost the exact same thing happen a few years back, but with a raccoon instead of a squirrel. He was doing a roof repair in Hillsboro and left the ladder propped up against the truck bed. Next thing he knows, this fat raccoon just waddles right up the ladder and into the back, starts sniffing around his toolboxes. He said he just stood there frozen for a good minute trying to figure out how to get it out. Ended up having to bang on the tailgate with a hammer for like ten minutes before it finally got spooked and took off. The homeowner was filming the whole thing from their kitchen window, probably thought it was the funniest thing theyd seen all week.
