Showerthought: a customer called my work 'soot whispering'

I was finishing a sweep in Akron yesterday and the homeowner joked that I must be a 'soot whisperer' with how clean I got their flue. It made me think about how we talk about our job to clients. Do you guys use any particular phrases to explain the process that people seem to get?

My go-to line is telling people we're giving their chimney a physical. They get the idea of a checkup right away, and it sounds less scary than an inspection. It usually gets a nod and a smile.

Flip it and say you're giving it a wellness check instead of a physical. It sounds more modern and less like a doctor's visit, which some folks actually find more stressful. You keep the friendly checkup idea but drop the medical vibe that can weird people out. It's a small change but it hits different for the customer who hates clinics.
