Why does nobody talk about switching from wire brushes to poly brushes on clay flue liners?

I used to go at every flue with a stiff wire brush and a drill, and I cracked two clay liners in one month back in 2022. Now I keep a poly brush for anything older than 20 years and only break out the wire one when the creosote is really baked on. Curious if other sweeps here made the switch or if you think wire is still the way to go on clay.
