Finally got my landlord to fix the leaky radiator after 11 months

Tbh I had to email the management company 14 times and cite our city's tenant laws twice before they sent a plumber out last Tuesday. Has anyone else had to basically become a legal expert just to get basic energy efficiency repairs done?

...and that's only because the plumber they finally sent admitted the valve was so corroded it was practically welded shut. You basically had to become their unpaid property manager and legal research department just to get warm air. It's wild how they'll ignore you for almost a year but magically show up the day after you mention the city's health and safety code. My neighbor had a similar fight over a broken bathroom fan and she ended up sending the landlord a certified letter with photos of the mold. Honestly, at this point the real skill is knowing which threat actually scares them, not the repair itself. Glad you won the war, but it shouldn't take a legal degree to get basic heat.

Knowing which threat actually scares them" is the real kicker, @pat360. I spent a month quoting the plumbing code and got nowhere until I casually mentioned my cousin the code inspector stops by for coffee. Guess who had a new water heater by Friday. My legal research degree is now collecting dust next to my unused toolbox.
