I always thought electric cars were just for rich people in California

My old car died and I had to pick between another gas car or trying an EV, so I got a used Nissan Leaf for $8,000 in Cleveland. After 6 months, my power bill only went up about $30 a month, which is way less than gas. Has anyone else made the switch in a colder city and how did your battery hold up in winter?

Yeah, the battery range definitely takes a hit in the cold... but preheating it while plugged in helps a ton.

Preheating is key, but it only works if your car is plugged in. Otherwise you're just draining the battery to warm it up. I keep mine on the charger overnight and set the cabin heat to turn on 20 minutes before I leave.
