I finally cut my home power bill by $31 a month by unplugging the cable box at night
I put the TV, cable box, and router on one power strip and just flip it off before bed after seeing the box pull 18 watts all night on a $12 meter. Anyone else find a dumb little phantom load like that?
Cutting the router at night seems like a bad trade for $31, since everything drops off wifi and any updates or backups stop running. Just flip off the cable box and leave the router alone, you'd still keep most of the savings.
