I hit 500 miles on my bike this year and it finally clicked

I always thought individual actions like biking don't matter against corporate polluters. But then I ran the numbers and realized I saved about 200 pounds of CO2 compared to driving my car that same distance. Has anyone else had that moment where the math actually changed your mind?

Pretty sure the carbon footprint to build that bike cancels out any savings.

Yeah, "cancels out any savings" hits hard. I looked into this a few years back when I was thinking about getting an e-bike, and the battery production alone is a mess. The mining for lithium and cobalt, plus shipping those heavy things across the ocean, it really does eat up a lot of the good you think you're doing. I'm not trying to knock anyone who rides one, it just feels like we're stuck in a no-win situation sometimes.
