Just read about the new solar farm they're building in Nevada

I saw an article that the Gemini Solar Project near Las Vegas is going to be huge, like 690 megawatts. It made me think about how much land we have that could be used for clean energy instead of just sitting there. Has anyone else seen a big project like that near them?

That's a massive project, but how do they decide where to put these things? Do they ever run into problems with people who live nearby or worry about wildlife?

Honestly @stellat87, the wildlife worry is huge. They do these long environmental studies, but I've read about bats and birds getting hurt by the blades. Do you know if newer designs are actually any better for that?

Have you seen the one they built out near Palm Springs? In my experience, driving past those windmills in the desert really shows the scale. It's wild how much open space we have that could be used for solar or wind. I get the wildlife concerns for sure, but from what I've read, the newer solar farms are a lot less harmful than the old turbine designs.
