Just saw my home's energy use went down 30% after switching to a heat pump last winter.

I honestly thought the old gas furnace was cheaper to run, but the actual numbers on my bill proved me wrong, so has anyone else made a switch that shocked them with the savings?

Did you look into any tax credits or rebates for that water heater swap? Those programs can take a huge chunk out of the upfront cost and make the payback time way faster. I got a local utility rebate that covered nearly thirty percent of my heat pump install.

Totally get that shock. My old water heater was a total energy hog. Swapping it out for a heat pump model cut that part of the bill in half, no joke. The upfront cost stung, but the savings showed up fast. It makes you check every other appliance in the house after seeing numbers like that.
