Just tried to switch my home heating off gas and it took 8 months

I started looking into a heat pump for my house last fall, thinking it would be a quick project. The first company quoted me a price that was way too high, so I had to find two more for better bids. Then the city permit office lost my paperwork for a month, which was a huge headache. After that, we had to wait for a special part to come in, which took another six weeks. The whole thing, from my first call to the system turning on, was over 8 months. Has anyone else had a home energy project drag on like this? How did you keep it moving?

That permit office losing your paperwork for a month is just brutal. I mean, that's the kind of delay that makes you want to pull your hair out. No wonder the whole thing took forever.

Ugh, that's the worst. I started calling every single day for a status update. Got a direct line to a clerk and just kept my name fresh in their mind. It's annoying but it pushes your file back to the top of the pile.
