My apartment building's solar panel day was a total mess, but worth it

Last Thursday our HOA finally flipped on the 48 panels we installed on the roof of our 6 unit building in Portland. It took 14 months of meetings and one guy moved out over the assessment. First day generated 61 kWh which covered the common areas and laundromat. Second day it rained and we still pulled 23 kWh. Throwing the switch felt like we actually did something instead of just posting about doom. The wiring took 3 days longer than quoted because our 1927 building has no junction boxes anywhere. Anybody else dealt with old building retrofits? Did the payback math work out or are we just doing this for the vibes?

Wait, 48 panels on a 1927 building, and nobody checked for junction boxes first?
