My electric bill dropped 312 kWh in one month and I almost didn't believe the number
I dug out an old paper bill from 2019 and laid it next to the one that came in March. Same house in Sacramento, same people living here, and the number was down 312 kWh. What changed was small stuff piled up over time. We hung a line out back instead of running the dryer for every load, swapped the old bulbs as they burned out, and put a timer on the water heater after my brother-in-law kept saying we were heating water at 3am for nobody. The weird part is nothing felt like a sacrifice while we were doing it. It was one thing here, one thing there, spread out over a couple years. Now when I look at that old bill with the killowatt hours printed on it, I think about how we just lived like that forever without wondering. Anyone else keep old bills around to compare, or am I the only one with a folder of them?
