Rinsing my mason jar 3 times before recycling cut my kitchen waste bin smell by like 80%

I got tired of gagging every time I opened the trash, so I started giving jars a quick rinse with cold water right after I empty them (instead of letting them sit). Has anyone found a trick that works better for recycling prep?

Has anyone tried the hot water shake method? I used to just let my jars marinate in the sink for like a week until I literally had to hold my breath to open the recycling bin. Now I fill them halfway with hot water, put the lid back on, shake the hell out of them for 10 seconds, and boom - no more science experiment residue. I'm basically a lazy recycling genius, just with soup cans instead of a PhD.

@avery_walker30 really out here acting like a little bit of jar smell is a crisis. It's 3 seconds of rinsing, people. Not exactly rocket science.
