Saw a solar farm get built in a week near my town
They put up the whole field of panels in just seven days, which really showed me how fast we can switch to clean power if we try. Has anyone else seen a big project like that go up quick?

Exactly. Panels are easy. The grid isn't.

But what happens when the sun isn't shining? A week is fast for panels, but that's just the easy part. We still need giant battery plants or new power lines that take years to build, and those aren't getting built in a week. That solar farm might sit idle on a calm, cloudy day without a way to store the power, which doesn't help the grid much. Speed on one piece doesn't mean the whole system is ready to switch over.

And here I am still trying to figure out how to get my phone to charge faster than a trickle, while engineers are out there building whole battery plants in like two years. Makes you wonder if I'm just bad at plugging things in or what. But yeah, you're right, the grid stuff takes forever. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the panels get lonely sitting there on a cloudy day with nowhere to send their power.
