Shoutout to the week my whole street went car free

Last spring our block in Minneapolis decided to try a full week with no one driving on our street. We set up a little table at the end and just hung out in the road. Turns out my neighbor Karen actually knows how to fix bikes and she patched up my old Schwinn in like 20 minutes. Has anyone else tried something like this with their neighbors?

Put a folding chair out and a cooler of soda, people will naturally stop and chat. We did a Saturday trial on our street and found out the guy three doors down used to race trikes. Just make sure you check with the city first so you don't get a ticket for blocking the road.

Wait, trikes? Like the big three-wheeled motorcycles? That's wild! We just found out my neighbor two doors down used to be a competitive yo-yo champion in the 90s and that was already too much for me to handle. How does a guy just casually drop "oh yeah I used to race trikes" like it's no big deal? I'd be showing everyone old photos and begging for stories. That's way cooler than our street's big discovery which was that someone's dog can open the refrigerator.
