Solar quote from 2012 finally paid off this week

I was skeptical when my neighbor talked me into a 6kW rooftop setup back in 2012, mostly because the break-even talk sounded like salesman math. But I checked my meter reading on Tuesday and I've officially recovered the $14,200 install cost through utility savings. Has anyone else had an old renewable investment cross the finish line later than promised?
