Tried to get my building to install solar panels and it took 8 months of meetings
I live in a 12-unit condo in Portland and pitched solar to the board last January, thinking it would be a quick win for our HOA fees. Turns out we needed three separate engineering studies, a special assessment vote, and a city permit that got delayed twice. Has anyone else dealt with a condo board that drags their feet on climate upgrades like this?

My buddy in a Seattle condo went through almost the exact same headache. He spent nearly a year just getting the board to agree on which vendor to use for the estimate. They finally got solar panels installed, but then the HOA found out the wiring wasn't up to code and had to pay another five grand to fix it. He said if he had to do it again, he'd probably just move to a house with them already on the roof. It really makes you wonder if these boards are designed to keep things the way they are.

Yeah but the HOA wasn't wrong about the wiring though, that's not really on them.
