A customer's comment about chatter changed my feed rates for good

Honestly, I was running a job last Tuesday on some aluminum plates and the finish was decent enough in my eyes. The customer walked over, pointed at the edge marks, and said 'that sounds like a loose part, not a tool issue.' He was right, my spindle speed was way too high for the depth I was cutting. I dropped the RPMs from 12k to 8k and slowed the feed by about 20 percent, and the surface cleaned right up. Has anyone else had a client notice something you overlooked on a part you thought was fine?

Slowing down that much sounds like a band-aid, not a fix. 12k was probably fine, your chip load was just wrong for that depth. Crank the RPMs back up and take a lighter pass instead, you'll keep your cycle time and get the same finish.
