Found an old trick for tramming the head on a Bridgeport
Spent years fighting with my mill until an old timer told me to put a 1-2-3 block on the table and sweep it with a dial indicator. Tried it on my 1982 Series 1 last Tuesday. Cuts are dead flat now. Anyone else still use the old school methods?

You're saying someone actually skips checking the head nod first?

1982 Series 1, huh? Did you check the head nod first before doing the sweep? I've seen guys skip the nod adjustment and chase ghost errors for weeks. That old timer was right about the 1-2-3 block trick but it only gets you so far if the head is sagging forward or backward. What was your indicator reading after you trammed it side to side?
