Lost 8 hours and $120 on a cheap edge finder lot from eBay

Bought a 5 pack of edge finders off eBay for $120 thinking I was saving money. First one snapped on a light touch at 800 rpm, just barely kissed the part. Second one spun eccentric, no way to get a reliable read. Checked the third with an indicator, it was off by nearly 15 thou. By the time I got one that actually worked, I'd wasted 8 hours fighting my setup and had to redo a batch of 30 brackets. My own fault for not buying a name brand from a tool truck. Anyone else get burned by bulk tool deals online, or am I the only sucker here?

Gotta point out though, 800 rpm is pretty slow for an edge finder, most guys run them at 1000 to 1500 and even then you just barely touch. Sounds like those might be soft or heat treated wrong, but that speed alone might've been asking for trouble too. Still sucks you got a bad batch, cheap lots are always a gamble.
