My coolant pump went from quiet to a grinding mess in two weeks.

It started with a faint hum, barely there. By day ten, it sounded like gravel in the gears. Took it apart yesterday. Found the impeller shaft worn down almost a full millimeter. The cause? A tiny chip got past the filter and chewed up the seal, letting coolant leak into the bearing. Anyone else had a chip take out a whole pump that fast?

Ever have a tiny problem cause a huge mess? Like a popcorn kernel taking out a filling. Sounds about the same pain level.

@angela_park Was it an old filling or just bad luck?

Oh man, that popcorn kernel situation is the WORST. I had something similar happen with a piece of hard candy once and it took out a filling in like 2 seconds flat. It's crazy how something so small can cause that much pain and a whole dentist visit.
