Question about switching from manual to conversational programming on our old Mazak lathe

We went from scrapping 3 parts a week to maybe 1 every two months after our lead guy, who's been there 20 years, finally tried the conversational mode for a complex contour job last spring.

Man, that's a huge improvement. It reminds me of when our shop got its first machine with a decent conversational interface. The old guard fought it hard, calling it a toy. Then one guy, out of pure frustration with a tricky profile, gave it a shot. The program he wrote in twenty minutes worked perfectly the first time. It wasn't about replacing skill, it was about using a better tool for a specific job. That moment changed a lot of minds overnight.

True, but sometimes that "better tool" just becomes a crutch for sloppy planning. Seen it happen.

My old boss called that the "show me" moment for new tech.
